Old School Concept, Rules and Procedures

Click Image for more information about us.
To fully appreciate the Old School experience you must first remove the concept from the virtual world and place it in the physical world.  To help explain, I will use a popular television show.  The Andy Griffith Show was set in a little town called  Mayberry, North Carolina.  Old School represents the values of a town like Mayberry.  Let’s meet the people of Old School.

C Jerome and Tony are much like Sherriff Andy and his faithful Deputy, but Tony is no Barney Fife.  With over 28 year’s experience, Tony was on the internet when it was invented by the military.  While good-natured like Barney, do not mistake his good nature, as him being soft.  He will take action swiftly whenever network rules are violated.  Unlike most towns, our crime rate is zero.

Old School is also a Sailor's town.  A major military supply depot was built here.  Shore Duty hungry sailors flocked here by the thousands.  Sailors are good people but are sometimes known for drinking too much and disorderly conduct.  Report all unbecoming behavior immediately to C Jerome or Tony.  Although usually found in the Sailor Group, a few were spotted in the teacher’s lounge.  You should report this type of activity also.  Swift action is required to keep a Sailor in check.

There are many churches in Old School.  Usually found under the Ministry Group, church Leaders may start their own groups and provide spiritual comfort and guidance to members of their faith.  All members are reminded to extend proper greetings to members of the clergy.

Mamma's House and the Barber Shop are places our mother's and father's go to kill a day and to ensure we continued to do the right thing.  Any disrespect shown to any member of these groups will be cause for immediate disciplinary action.  Old School Members are encouraged to invite senior church members to join.  C Jerome Services will create a web page free of charge for any religious organization without internet presence.  Our mission is to simply spread good with the assets available.

Professors and teachers moved to Old School to make a difference in the lives of the children.  They can be found throughout the site and are ready to answer any questions for "New School" members. Teachers and school administrators need help from all members of Old School.  Contact a local school in your area and get involved.  It is important that members use proper grammar when addressing  issues.  Email and text messaging are eroding the writing skills of adults and children as well.  We are here to reinforce right,  not to condone wrong.

Granby High School is our after school program test group. The school Principle has enrolled failing students in this program, with parent(s) permission. Old School members and tutors working locally at Granby High School interface with these students and reinforce the information covered in class the previous day. Membership is restricted to local Old School Members participating in this program. All members and tutors are required to undergo a free background check prior to participating. Members are encouraged to contact high schools in their area and duplicate this program. Our vision is to open Old School Chapters throughout the country.

Like all cities and towns, businesses have popped up.  The difference is we, the town members select what businesses operate in Old School.  The city is a "dry town", no alcohol can be purchased, well maybe a little wine.  There are no "shady people" trying to sell you some prime property in Arizona.  Like local businesses, taxes must be paid.  Because this is a utopia, we do not pay taxes; the businesses do.  No panhandling is allowed so, snake oil salesmen beware.  The members of Big Mamma's House and the old heads at the Barber Shop and Tony will be watching.  Spamming and Phishing are grounds for being banned from the network.

There are many other groups to join and have fun in. Read the description of each and join in, where you fit in. I look forward to sharing stories. In closing, Old School is a dream; the dream of a country boy from Tennessee on a mission. Old School is the kind of village we need to raise a child.  If the village in which our students live will not or can not teach these children in the physical world, we will do it in the virtual world.  Now that I have shared my dream and you know the rules, let's go to work and have some fun while we do it.

What Is Copyright

Copyright is a form of protection provided by the laws of the United States (title 17, U. S. Code) to the authors of original works of authorship, including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works. This protection is available to both published and unpublished works. Section 106 of the 1976 Copyright Act generally gives the owner of copyright the exclusive right to do and to authorize others to do the following:

  • To reproduce the work in copies or phonorecords;

  • To prepare derivative works based upon the work;

  • To distribute copies or phonorecords of the work to the public by sale or other transfer of ownership, or by rental, lease, or lending;

  • To perform the work publicly, in the case of literary, musical, dramatic, and choreographic works, pantomimes, and motion pictures and other audiovisual works;

  • To display the work publicly, in the case of literary, musical, dramatic, and choreographic works, pantomimes, and pictorial, graphic, or sculptural works, including the individual images of a motion picture or other audiovisual work; and

  • In the case of sound recordings, to perform the work publicly by means of a digital audio transmission.

In addition, certain authors of works of visual art have the rights of attribution and integrity as described in section 106A of the 1976 Copyright Act. For further information, request Circular 40, Copyright Registration for Works of the Visual Arts.

It is illegal for anyone to violate any of the rights provided by the copyright law to the owner of copyright. These rights, however, are not unlimited in scope. Sections 107 through 121 of the 1976 Copyright Act establish limitations on these rights. In some cases, these limitations are specified exemptions from copyright liability. One major limitation is the doctrine of fair use, which is given a statutory basis in section 107 of the 1976 Copyright Act. In other instances, the limitation takes the form of a compulsory license under which certain limited uses of copyrighted works are permitted upon payment of specified royalties and compliance with statutory conditions. For further information about the limitations of any of these rights, consult the copyright law or write to the Copyright Office.

*Note: Sound recordings are defined in the law as works that result from the fixation of a series of musical, spoken, or other sounds, but not including the sounds accompanying a motion picture or other audiovisual work. Common examples include recordings of music, drama, or lectures. A sound recording is not the same as a phonorecord. A phonorecord is the physical object in which works of authorship are embodied. The word phonorecord includes cassette tapes, CDs, LPs, 45 r.p.m. disks, as well as other formats.  Click here to learn more about the Copy Right Act.

Images by unidentified creators and images from unidentified sources are problematic because of the lack of information. Patrons who wish to show that a reasonable effort was made to determine copyright status should perform a copyright search and retain a record of the search.

U.S. Government-issued photographs are considered to be in the public domain and are free to use.

Original artwork and prints may be restricted by copyright. For published works dating 1923 and after or unpublished works created but not registered for copyright before January 1, 1978, rights may be held by the creator, creator's heirs, or the publisher. Therefore, patrons are advised to check for copyright prior to publication or other forms of distribution.

In short, you should know the copyright status before posting on this or any internet site.  All members are required to disable the music download feature on there music players unless operating as a business and the paperwork to prove it.  Members may be banned from the site for permitting download of music without business agreements.  No bootlegging is allowed in the town of Old School.
